Defensive or attacking formations?
If you were a soccer coach, would you approach games with defensive or offensive formations? Alex Ferguson gained fame for knowing how to set his tactics for Manchester United. The EPL values such an excellent coach though.

Re: Defensive or attacking formations?
It all depends on the situation, you know?
A possible 4-5-1 soccer formation suits defensive tactics but a 4-5-1 should always support attacking ones. Real Madrid is a team which can play almost any formation because they have the right players. Even their bench will help a relegated EPL team get back to the upper league.

I never doubt Liverpool and Los Blancos can play many formations on the field.

Re: Defensive or attacking formations?
If only I coached a superstar team, I'd setup only attacking formations and leave the defense wide open to threats...
